Look: On the first day of Ramadan, hundreds of Muslims pray for Eid Al Fitr and exchange greetings at open-air musallahs.

After the UAE’s moon-sighting committee saw the Shawwal crescent on April 20, residents will have a four-day break to celebrate the Islamic festival Eid Al Fitr 2023. It will be officially celebrated on Friday, April 21.

The first day of the Islamic calendar month of Shawwal and the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan are both marked by the appearance of the crescent moon.

Since Eid is on a Friday this year, mosques have facilitated two messages: One for Eid and the other for the Jumuah supplications.
