UAE: Eid Al Fitr is supposed to fall on Saturday, says Global Cosmology Place

According to the center, there is no chance of seeing the Shawwal crescent on Thursday. The International Astronomy Centre in Abu Dhabi predicts that Eid Al Fitr (1444 AH) will fall on Saturday, April 22, which is one day later than the previous prediction. The galactic body said its forecast depends on cosmic data and that the specific date of the Eid might be affirmed by the concerned specialists in light of the locating of the new moon.

The Islamic community will look for the crescent of Shawwal on April 20, 2023, but according to the Center, it won’t be visible to the naked eye from anywhere in the Arab and Islamic world.

 

“Seeing the crescent on Thursday is not possible with a telescope in most countries of the Arab and Islamic world, except for parts of West Africa beginning with Libya,” the organization stated in a statement. However, spotting remains extremely challenging and necessitates expert observation, a precise telescope, and exceptional weather conditions. Each of these factors rarely occurs. Therefore, unless the aforementioned conditions are met, the crescent is unlikely to be observed using even a telescope from anywhere in the Arab world.”

Read More As a result, Eid Al Fitr is now anticipated to occur on Saturday, April 22, as the crescent’s sighting is required for the beginning of the month. However, since Thursday, the International Astronomy Centre has urged individuals to report any sightings of the crescent.

The center added that Eid Al Fitr will fall on Saturday for countries that require correct local vision with a telescope or only correct sight with the naked eye. These countries are expected to observe fasting for the full 30 days.

Five-day weekend From Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3, the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE) announced the official Eid Al Fitr holiday. Residents of the United Arab Emirates will be able to take advantage of a five-day weekend if they are not able to spot the Moon on April 20, when Eid begins.

The moon sighting committee of the United Arab Emirates will meet to look into the sighting and announce the precise Eid date.
